FROM FARM TO FAMILY

The HISTORY OF MAGNOLIA ACRES

The Magnolia Acres property, or what’s left of the 88-acre track given to Charlie and Sarah  Weindorff in 1899, is just 12 acres now. Charlie’s journey from his homeland of Germany found him setting foot in Galveston Tx in the late 1800’s. As did many Germans back then  he settled in the region of Peck, Rosehill area. He met his love Sarah Brautigam and her  father gifted the newlyweds this real estate.

D Kirk & Sherri Stephens purchased 12 acres  in 1995 being the 5th owners from the Mexican land grant. They have called the old  homeplace their home to date. The homestead has seen many changes in the past 125 years.  One of Charlie's sons felt the call to become a man of the cloth as well as a part time barber.  Theddo as he was known built a small church on the edge of the homestead. Which is now  the location of Magnolia Acres Studio. Theddo over the years sustained he and his wife,  known only as Mrs. Weindorff, by selling off partials of real estate.

The Studio is quaint and full of character as is the old homestead. The area is known as  Decker’s Prairie. Having the road bearing only Isaac Decker’s last name, Decker Prairie  Rosehill Rd. The old Weindorff home with its quaint picket fence and wrap-around style  porches along with the old barn having touches of German style to it. Can be experienced  only in person as the century old Oak tree seems to tell a story of another time.

A time  when life moved much slower, and a person’s cares were of survival and faith.

Every turn and corner of this property can stir excitement and wonder of a day gone by that one can sense as you anticipate the future and dream of the past.
